Do I have PA?
« on: March 12, 2010, 04:00:44 AM »
I'm not sure if I have the symptoms of PA. I'm having pain in my knees and occasionally in elbows. The pain is not acute and  very much tolerable. It's like how we feel when we're tired.  Is this a symptom of PA?

No one here can say yes you have or no your havent.

I have PA in my knuckles in both my hands but it was quite some time before going to GP and getting the diagnosis.

The pain you mention could be a sign. The pain i get is abit like flu pains a real heavy pain that wont budge.

Make an appointment to see your GP, and talk to him/her about it.

hi, Dermakid

there are quite a few  of the  sponyloartropathies linked with p  best to tell your derm or gp

some  rheumy/consultants  wait untill they have
esr/crp/ana/hla-b27 blood tests /mri /synovial fluid/ proof   before confirming a diagnoses   well worth a  search of the pa board

? are your finger/toe  nails pitted/yellowish

Sounds more like osteoarthritis, possibly. Suggest you ask your GP to have a look and possibly send you for an x-ray.... how old are you? if this is not damage consistent with wear and tear due to age then it should perhaps be investigated further.... GP first though

Ah nail pitting and ridging it certainly a strong clue to the presence of PA....

Does the pain get better if you take anti-inflammatories?
