MTX not agreeing with my liver.

Well so much for my optimism about MTX.  The Rheumy tells me that the blood tests show that my liver function has gone from 28 to 72 in just three months and if it goes above 80 then they will have to reduce it or stop it altogether.  It may be that my body just can't cope with it and there I was thinking that it was going really well just because it hadn't made me sick. It has helped my joints a bit though so fingers crossed it will settle down. So frustrating!

Oh no that's such a shame, especially as you have been ok on them otherwise.  Things are never straight-forward are they?! You never know it might go back the other way, my fingers are crossed for you too.

Its amazing, when I began MTX it made me feel like I was dying a slow death, sick and exhausted for days afterwards but my bloods and liver function tests were fine so according to doc I was "tolerating" it well

I'm crossing my fingers for you too that everything settles down and your liver behaves and you can carry on with the MTX, one thing I've got from reading all the MTX posts is that it's such an individual experience! Good luck!

Hi, If it rises any more they will probably reduce the dosage for several months or weeks and monitor the blood tests results. Its also vip to report any dramatic changes in your body to the rheumy nurse asap. Like mouth ulcers etc etc.
