I think the rather annoying thing is the durgs themselves often don't cost anywere near the cost of a perscription

I dont pay for prescriptions. I remember going into chemist for my thyroid tablets the very first time, purse in hand waiting to hand over money, and the lady said I did not need to pay and would probably not pay again and I should be requesting an exemption certificate which I did.  I show this every time I go to collect whatever prescription and dont pay.

Is exemption certificates only in Scotland ?  I never did understand this and feel bad when I read other peoples posts about howmuch it has cost them for prescriptions.

No they have the exemptions in England too - just have to have the right illness! Thyriod is one of them - not sure why the list included what it did I guess it was outdated logic to do with if its a life threatening condition but then other life threatening conditions like heart disease and asthma aren't covered.

One thing that it is hyperparathyroid and the last couple of times mines been tested its been extremly low but the docs don't think its a problem so don't have official diagnosis - never mind I can live with £10 a month its covered by the measly amount of DLA i get!
