Hi

There are so many different pills etc out there, that to list all of them would take a while. The injections your going to have will help a little, they helped me, but then again we are all different. I've been on sulfasalaine for about 1 year now, it didn't really help me so my rheumy decided to put me on mtx as well. As with all these drugs there are going to be side effects, I am very drug sensitive, so was bricking it when he suggested mtx, but I've never had any problems with it, compaired to some people. I wouldn't say its made my life better, but its keeping the PA in check.

As for the hair thinning, yes mine is very thin now, but I'd rather have thin hair and be able to move, than thick hair and stuck inside my house.

Hope all goes well tomorrow and the rheumy can give you something that can help. Lets us know how you get on.

There are zillions I lie, of drugs they can use and they have to be given in strict accordances within guidelines. So I would guess they will try another one to see how it goes. It can be a long drawn out story, and one has to persevere. Hope you get onto one which works for you.
Side effects can be a pain and numerous blood tests will be required to keep an eye on how your body copes with these drugs.
Good luck and chin up.

Diferent country but the listing of the Drugs for arthritis from ARC - (sorry, they have rechristened themselves Arthritis Research UK (very likely to be confused with Cancer research UK if you ask me!))  should give you an idea of what's available.

The same site actually explains all the drug alternatives.... so have a "goosey gander" there

Coo.... they have completely altered the website in their rebranding process....it's much easier to see what's there now!

Never noticed dave's hair thinning - although he wasn't on that long last time.  Just a few months on the full dose before his liver packed up :'(  But this time round he's on the low dose with infliximab, and still no thinning noticed yet......
