Abscess and immunosuppression
« on: March 19, 2010, 06:24:45 PM »
Howl! Just managed to escape the clutches of the NHS, admission through AE for treatment of an abscess. Two nights in three days

They couldn't decide whether it was a soft tissue problem or an abscess. Simply because I wasn't showing any inflammation in my blood tests or temperatures.
Thought it was a soft tissue problem, nearly discharged me was an appointment for an MRI scan in 3 to 4 weeks.Fortunately I was rescued by a junior house officer and a surgical registrar, who decided to do a needle biopsy on the ward and then remove the abscess on the spot - instead of sending me up for a general anaesthetic and operation.

OW ow ow! I'm also going to be out of contact for a few days... as unchanging broadband supplier...
